BizTips – 2022 Marketing Trends

2021 embraced digital transformation more than ever as marketers adapted to the ever-changing virtual and hybrid business landscape. During the pandemic, virtual engagement and online traffic were the foundation upon which many small businesses survived. Keeping up with the changes is no easy task, but we need to be aware of the current business environment and adopt competitive marketing strategies that will sustain and maybe even grow our businesses.

Influence marketing will evolve from just a trend to a common marketing tactic. Influencers are masters of the platforms they use and the field or topic they talk about. They already have an audience that is engaged and interested in their content and even influenced by the information that is transmitted. You don’t have to invest in a celebrity, but focus on micro-influencers (thousands to tens of thousands of followers) who pack a marketing punch with each of their posts. They are niche influencers and play a bigger and bigger role in transitioning leads to closed sales.

Video marketers will continue to focus on “snackable” content in their short-form posts. While long-form video can offer in-depth detail with lots of information, both B2C and B2B marketers have found that getting to the point can be much more effective. This format achieves objectives – using less bandwidth and attaining and keeping viewers’ attention. TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts are vehicles to capture viewers’ interest.

Mobile optimization. Consumers are spending more and more time on mobile devices. About half of all annual online website traffic is combined from mobile devices and tablets. If your targets are millennials and Gen Z audiences it will be even more critical to optimize your content for mobility. And, it is not just website optimization, it is email experiences that also must be adapted.
